I’ll soon be taking a pattern making class and I’ve always wanted to attempt at making a dress with florals all over it(like this inspiration from @alexandermcqueen), how fun would that be?

I’ve been contemplating a lot about life lately and IG just doesn’t bring me much joy. Anyone else? So I almost have to force myself to post so the algorithm doesn’t kill me for not posting for days. You know the rat race game it makes us play.😅

A cool thing about refashioning is that you can always redo or remake your refashions if you don’t like it or change your mind! I wasn’t totally happy with the new length so I shortened it even more. Which length do you prefer? Original, shorter or shortest?

I got to create the most beautiful experience with my oldest daughter by attending this party by @hairitagebymindy at the Salt Flats, I still can’t get over how beautiful it was! My daughter even volunteered to get hypnotized and my favorite was when she flipped the guy off. It was hilarious.😂 Thank you @mindymcknight for the incredible memories, I’m so grateful!💗

I read an article long ago that said 70% of your childhood memories will be made outside your home. Do you believe that? I believe it, most of my memories were outside the home, I hardly remember any events that happened inside my home!

I was talking to a friend yesterday who has kids that are now in College and she said from ages 13-18, it really goes by in a blink of an eye. And to treasure my kids ages before they turn 16 because sure, it’s nice once they drive and you don’t have to give them rides everywhere but you lose a huge connection with them and it won’t be the same, when you’d drive them and it’s just the two of you in the car doing nothing else but talking.🥺😭

She also said to go on lots of adventures, trips, make new memories. Her friend’s family went to Europe for a year when the kids were in HS and while she felt bad for them since they had to leave their friends, and the kids didn’t want to go, now it’s all they talk about whenever the family gets together and it’s their fondest memory.

So my goal is to get out of the house more, spend money on experiences and less on things, travel, create new memories and be open to any new adventures!

I’m already getting teary eyed thinking about my oldest leaving in 4-5 years.💔 So I am going to cherish every day with her and my other kids while they still live at home with me.

Parents with grown adults, do you have any other insight or advice for us parents with young kids? What are some things you’re so happy you did and what are some things you wish you had done differently?

I did a 2 minute alteration on this dress right before leaving to the party, by taking an inch on the waist from both sides, hence it didn’t look as polished. But it did the job and was a much better fit! 

The floral designs are crocheted which I love, you see a lot of embroidery but not often the crocheting.

#sharingmyheartst I am always looking for ways to live the higher law. Here are 3 ways I implement the higher laws:

1. When I receive a mean comment, most times I don’t engage and ignore or sometimes reply with kindness. But then I take it a step further and pray for them and send them all my love and positive energy to them, praying they’ll have a beautiful day.

2. I once read that if you truly understood someone, there’s no need to forgive. Because you understand why they did the thing they did. So understanding is a step above forgiveness, where forgiveness is not even required, because you understand. So instead of forgiving someone, which is putting myself above them where they’re the sinner and I’m innocent, I put myself in the same level as them, without ego or hierarchy attached. And I simply understand them.

3. I got rid of the concept of Heaven and Hell and rewards/punishment as the motivator of my actions. What is a more higher, pure way to live by? To obey, repent, make amends because I fear going to Hell, everybody knowing about my actions in the afterlife if I don’t repent, I want the award of going to Heaven, or doing good deeds, repenting, and making amends because I am good and it’s simply who I am? To express love, goodness and kindness to others without any exterior factors of Hell or Heaven? To be good with the utmost purity of intentions, without wanting/receiving anything in return?

As I’ve been trying to live by these higher laws, I have had more abundance of peace, love & happiness in my life.

I was so excited to get this dress in the mail but when I finally got it and tried it on, it was way too small on the chest area, there must have been a pattern error because there was no room for the chest whatsoever. The zipper came broken also but it wouldn’t have zipped up anyway, it took two people to pull it off of me!

So I cut off the middle part of the skirt to use that fabric to add one inch on both sides of the chest/waist area as you can see in the video and got the zipper replaced.

I wanted the dress length to be shorter anyway so it worked out perfectly. Do you think it turned out okay?

Whenever I find myself getting offended on social media, I don't give other people power over my feelings/reactions, I like to keep that power/control to myself.

If I get offended, instead of immediately giving them the control by blaming them for my hurt feelings, I look inward for the way I feel and dig deeper.

Why did that trigger me? What can I work on myself to go back to feeling confident and happy so that doesn't trigger me anymore? What am I missing in my life and what can I change?

People view social media through the eyes of their own perspective so what you find offensive, others won't. So if some find it funny or perfectly okay, but you find it hurtful and offensive, are those other people wrong for their feelings while you're right? If you're right, then are their perspectives a lie? Of course not. Your perspective is true for you, no matter how the perspectives of others differ.

So if it really depends on the person’s own perspective whether that’s offensive or wrong, is the person who just offended you really to blame? Did that person make you feel that way or is your perception making you feel that way?

So maybe it's not the person but your own perception that is responsible for you being offended?

Your perception is your reality. There’s no such thing as one, universal reality. Yet, people are so quick to blame others for their own perception, insecurities & triggers.

But when you do that, you're giving them so much power & responsibility over your life!

Take back control over your life by looking inward. You can change yourself but you can't change others. So if you expect other people to change, cater & adhere to your perception or preference only, you'll never be happy, you'll always be offended.

You're in control of your emotions, reactions, feelings & perspective. Don’t give others the power to control your happiness.

I only have one boy so I don’t know if my son is just the most smooth operator I’ve ever met or if this is normal for a boy? Here are some things he’s said to me. .
.
When he was 3 yrs. old: .
•His friend: “They gave us cookies today at school! They were warm and the best thing ever!”
Son: “But you know what’s better than warm cookies? (pointing to me) YOU!” .
•In the middle of eating lunch with me, he turns away from me, folds his arms, closes his eyes and says, “Dear Heavenly Father. Thank you for sending me my mama, she’s the best mama ever and I don’t want a new mama, ever! Amen.” .

Now at 4 yrs. old: .
•Me: “Do you like dinner?”
My son: “Yeah! It tastes like mama’s love!” .
•”Mommy, you’re so loveness, you always look loveness.” •Me: “How come you always want me to put you to bed and not daddy?”
Son: “Because you’re warmness!”
Jay: “Am I warmness?”
Son: “No, you’re coldness.” 😂
•Me: “Are you playing footsies with me?” as we were on our lunch date. 
Son: “No, it’s super loviesies!” .
•”I was early picking him up from preschool(which is rare), so I waited for him to come out of the building and when he saw me he started jumping up and down screaming, “Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!” then after the teacher’s permission to leave, runs and jumps in my arms, gives me the tightest squeeze and a big smooch on the lips and says, “Mommy, can you come early like this every day so I get to see you faster? Because if you’re early, I only have to wait one second to see you!” .

So tell me, is he super smooth for his age? Should I be worried?😅 I hope he never stops(but only with me😂)!

#AD I couldn’t remember the last time this girl came to hang out with me in the bathroom when I’m doing my business so I tricked her to see if she’d still come and she did!☺️🙌🏼💗 Hence her trying to get away from me from my kung fu grip once she found out it was a trap. And even though our summer has been much more busy than I had anticipated mainly because of this girl, 2 things have been helping with my sanity; a poem I came across that made me bawl my eyes out(swipe to read) and Claritin® RediTabs® for Juniors which I originally bought for my girl but I’ve been stealing hers, it tastes like those yogurt melts for babies! It dissolves instantly on your tongue, it’s so cool! .

I made felt wings for my son a few years ago with elastic straps for the arms and shoulders but didn’t like how I had to help him put it on and take it off about five hundred times a day.😅 So I made these in a two-layer blanket style where he can easily slip in and out all by himself and also wrap it around him like a big, cozy blanket! My original plan was to refashion this thrifted dress into a jumpsuit. But I underestimated just how much fabric pants require so I had to go with option B. One of the most challenging parts of refashioning for me is how limited the fabric quantity is, thus narrowing down so many design options.😅

Did you know that the first fight Jay and I ever had was over garlic?😆 Soon after I had my first child, I got on a birth control pill and it made me SO moody. One word to describe my girl is magical. I imagine God sprinkled her with the fairy dust of everything that is wholesome, pure and lovely right when she was born. If she were a fantasy character, she’d be a fairy or a mermaid. Her pure innocence, vibrancy for life and curiosity brightens up all of our lives. With her creativity and imagination, she can turn anything into a masterpiece. She is a little mom to her little brother and is so kind and patient with him and plays with him everyday. She asks me every night if she can help me with making dinner or cleaning and she bakes the most delicious cookies and sweets! She is such a tender hearted, sweet and thoughtful girl who is also strong, determined and knows how to stand up for herself and speak her mind. She is an amazing negotiator! Our family tells me she is a mini-me because not only does she look exactly like me, her personality is so similar to mine but they’re wrong, she is a much better version of me in every single way. Jay and I agree that she is both of our best qualities, combined. We love you so much and we thank God we are your parents. It’s a true honor and privilege to be taught by you.

Did you know that my height is right in between my two girls right now? It'll be any day where both surpass my height! 

And they'll both be in Jr. High this Fall, can you believe it? Where did my little girls with short, curly hair + bangs and a bald head go?😭 What grade will your kids enter this school year?

As our tradition, I had them pick out their first day of school outfits and I love seeing their unique personalities come to life with each of their choices. As I was thinking of the motto I'd like my girls to instill for this school year, two words came to me almost immediately. "Be selfish".

This is a motto I am trying to live by, myself and it might sound odd to some of you because society has us believe that, especially for us women, we should be selfless and think of others(such as our kids, husband, family) first and ourselves last, but hear me out.

One truth that I believe in wholeheartedly is this; what you do that is best for yourself is also always what is best for others. Do you believe that?

I believe that if we think of ourselves first and do what is always best for ourselves, we will feel empowered, happy, live truly for ourselves and not to please others, and therefore be able to give that much more to others, after we put on our oxygen tank first and can breathe freely.

The more happy we are, the more happiness we can spread to others. The more empowered we feel, the more empowerment we can give to others.

So I hope my girls always think of what is best for themselves first. And be able to speak up, act boldly, live fearlessly and shamelessly, so that they will be able to pass on that empowerment to others and give others the permission and inspiration to do the same.
